It's the end of July, time for an update from Robin Wood, and not unimportantly:
Starting tomorrow the webshop will be open again for three days!
I've been making a lot of music boxes lately, as this is the last online sale for a while! I have to find a new space for my workshop, so I don't expect to make any music boxes for a few months, depending on how quickly I can pick something up again.
WEBSHOP OPEN FOR THREE DAYS
All the boxes available for sale over the next three days are already listed in the webshop. This time, there are a remarkable number of unique boxes, unique in nature and of which only one exists. The box in the photo is the actual box the buyer will receive.
This time, beech trees from various cities and even abroad are well represented. These include the beech from England, Somerset, the famous Red Beech from Utrecht, and now, for the first time, the Red Beech from Dordrecht! This tree was displayed at the Augusteinenkamp in front of The Movies Film Theatre. The video accompanying each box (under the "About this tree" tab) shows the farewell ceremony organized by the Tree Knights just before the tree is felled in 2023.

SYMBOLISM OF THE BEECH
Among the Druids, the beech symbolized wisdom, knowledge, and feminine power. In Celtic mythology the beech also a symbol of femininity. She is not called the 'Queen of the Forest' for nothing!
The beech is also known for its longevity and is associated with the qualities of patience and timelessness, offering comfort and protection. Its wood also carries these qualities.

NEW: RED BEECH FROM DORDRECHT!
Planted in 1920, felled in 2023 due to a giant fungus infestation. This is the first small series of this monumental red beech.

But there's more than just beech! Still walnut from Zeeland. A final box of maple from Utrecht (with a stunning purple ruby!) and many boxes of alder from Vondelpark and cherry from Amsterdam.

Yes, you can! This coming Friday and Saturday, I'll be open for the very last time at my current location.
Fri/Sat 1 & 2 August from 14-17pm Donkerstraat 21, Utrecht.

STILL SEARCHING...
So, it's still uncertain where I'll end up. I might stay in Utrecht or the surrounding area, but other cities/towns are also an option. I'm particularly drawn to Gelderland because of its forests. I'm looking for an inspiring, vibrant place with plenty of trees. So, not necessarily in the city. An easily accessible space of 50-100m² where the music can be played loudly!

MEANWHILE IN ITALY
The film about 'Robin Wood,' which is now being submitted to film festivals worldwide, is taking on a life of its own. It's very exciting to see where the film will premiere. We'll find out in the coming weeks and months. Alfredo has already won an award for his score!
