We did it! All the boxes Rob made over the past few weeks are now available in the webshop. Open from 7:00 AM tomorrow (Monday) until 23:55 PM on Wednesday. Everything will be available from stock then.
Orders are shipped within 2 days; engraving may take a day longer. Pickup is available at our workshop in Utrecht until approximately mid-October.

THE SCHOOLYARD TREE
|
This beautiful tree was planted around 1968, a few years after the school building was completed in the 60s. Many thousands of children have played and spent time under it since then. If you know someone who grew up in Utrecht, chances are they attended this school and know this tree.
Thanks to Marga, the school's music teacher, some of the wood found its way to me, and I've now made my first series of music boxes in various designs. I also received these beautiful photos that show the tree in all its glory! More photos in the tree map.

ROBINIA IS NAMED AFTER ROBIN!
|
|
|
The Robinia owes its name to the French botanist and physician Jean Robin (1580-1625), who was the royal gardener at the Louvre Palace of the French king in Paris. Robin was the first European to import Acacia seeds from North America and, around 1601, planted the first Acacia tree in the palace garden. The tree was later named after him in his honor. The tree planted by his hands is now the oldest tree in Paris and still stands on Place Dauphine, near Notre Dame Cathedral in the heart of Paris.

Along with the Red Beech from 1843 on Emmalaan, the 'Robinia Bonifatius' is now the main and virtually only wood from which you will find Utrecht music boxes in the webshop.

But there is more than just Utrecht!
Dordrecht (Augusteinenkamp), England (Glastonbury), and Zeeland (Wemeldinge) are also represented. There are also still boxes of alder from Amsterdam's Vondelpark, as well as beautiful cherry wood from Belgium (Chateau de Cortils) and Lebanon cedar (Lanaken)!

UNIQUES
This time again many unique boxes in the webshop. 'What you see is what you get'You will receive the box pictured. Unique pieces are primarily those with gemstones (above: rose quartz in alder) and those made of pure wood without an image (above: oak from England).

WORKSHOP RELOCATION
I'm still nervous about where I'll be moving in a month. Something exciting is happening, a place I'd be a good fit for. I'm not revealing what it is yet, because it might not happen. So, tips are still welcome. Preferably somewhere in nature and wooded areas around Utrecht.
